A fixed dental bridge is a reliable restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of two crowns (called abutments) that are anchored to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap, with an artificial tooth (pontic) securely positioned in the middle.
The process is similar to getting a dental crown but involves multiple teeth. With proper care and good oral hygiene, a dental bridge can last 10 years or longer, restoring both your smile and your ability to chew comfortably.
A fixed dental bridge may be recommended if you’re missing a tooth and not a candidate for a dental implant. Designed from tooth-colored materials, bridges blend seamlessly with your natural teeth for a smooth, attractive look.
Bridges can be placed anywhere in the mouth—whether you’re missing a front (anterior) tooth or a back (posterior) one. Our goal is to restore both the function and appearance of your smile with a bridge that looks and feels natural.
While dental implants are often the preferred option—since they don’t require altering healthy teeth—not everyone is a candidate for implant surgery or may simply prefer another solution. In these cases, a fixed dental bridge can be a great alternative. Bridges are strong, long-lasting restorations that restore your smile’s appearance and function. If you’re missing one or more teeth and are looking for a non-surgical option, a fixed bridge may be the right fit for you.
To begin, you’ll receive the anesthetic option that’s most comfortable for you. We then carefully prepare the surrounding teeth by reshaping them to make room for the bridge. Our team will take detailed dental impressions, which are used to craft both a temporary and a permanent bridge. You’ll leave your appointment the same day with a custom temporary bridge in place. Once your permanent bridge is ready, you’ll return for a follow-up visit where we’ll securely place it over the prepared teeth (abutments). Final adjustments are made to ensure the bridge feels natural, fits comfortably, and enhances your bite.
If you think you might need a fixed dental bridge or want to have an older bridge replaced, call our office so that our helpful staff can get you scheduled with an appointment.
